Below are 7 hotel tips to make it easier to clean and keep it polished, stylish and radiant all the time! And even if you’re not one, these are tricks we should ALL borrow. Ready?
1. Clean the toilet
The toilet is surely one of the places in the bathroom most prone to mould and limescale build-up. Cleaning them frequently is a matter of hygiene, but it is not necessarily necessary to use chemicals to sanitise them. You are sure to have natural, non-aggressive ingredients at home that will do the job perfectly. Take, for example, baking soda: it is an excellent cleaner with degreasing, anti-mould and anti-limescale properties. Combined with lemon, which also deodorises the room and provides a sour smell, it is the ideal remedy for cleaning your toilets!
Mix 3 g of baking soda with 2 g of lemon juice and 10 ml of warm water. Pour into the toilet and use a toilet brush to clean the inside. Finally, flush the toilet. This method is also useful for unclogging the toilet.
2. Cleaning the toilet brush
It is essential to clean this bathroom accessory, as it is constantly exposed to dirt, but also to bacteria and microbes that can be harmful to our health.
It’s very simple: just pour some boiling water into the toilet brush holder, then add small amounts of baking soda, detergent, vinegar and salt. Soak the toilet brush in the solution for 5 minutes and then flush it down the toilet. Like baking soda, white vinegar is also highly recommended for cleaning your bathroom, as it is packed with stain-removing and degreasing properties.
3. Clean windows and mirrors
You notice it often: residue builds up on the glass and annoying halos form. Ideally, clean your windows and mirrors daily with baking soda or alcohol. Use a microfibre cloth, apply a little alcohol and wipe the glass – you’ll quickly find its shine and beautiful transparency!
4. Clean the shower regularly
It goes without saying, but it must be said that we tend to neglect this area a little due to lack of time or simple forgetfulness. However, it is essential to get into the habit of applying a cleaning product regularly to avoid the proliferation of limescale and mould around the shower.
This will allow you to avoid a more tedious deep cleaning.
To keep your shower clean, make a cleaner by mixing equal parts water and white vinegar. Spray the solution on the inside surfaces of the shower, then rinse with warm water. Remember that good bathroom ventilation is essential to prevent mould build-up, especially in the shower.
5. Keep the ceiling clean
We don’t think about it, but it is important to clean the bathroom ceiling! Indeed, it is there that much of the moisture that occurs in the environment is deposited, hence the almost inevitable formation of mould. To remedy the problem, use a combination of salt and baking soda to clean the ceiling at least 3 or 4 times a year.
NB: you may not know this, but salt is very effective at removing bacteria and mould. Thanks to its abrasive aspect, it removes all kinds of stains and dirt, even scale.
6. Cleaning the bathtub
The same goes for the bathtub: frequent application of a cleaning product avoids having to do a more thorough and laborious cleaning. The more you neglect its maintenance, the more difficult the stains will be to remove!
Mix 4 litres of warm water with a glass of alcohol, half a glass of vinegar and a tablespoon of baking soda. Pour the mixture into the bathtub and leave it for 10 minutes, then rinse. Here’s your bathtub clean and spotless!
7. Removes rust
In the bathroom there are many metal objects and accessories that, due to the constant humidity of the room, are exposed to the formation of rust.
To remove that annoying rust: mix salt and lemon juice, use a toothbrush to clean all metal surfaces. Finally, wipe with a clean microfibre cloth to remove the residues.
With these little natural tricks to polish and shine your bathroom, you will have nothing to envy to your hotel room!
