In a stunning monument to the power of tenacity and restlessness, 79-year-old Luisa Yu has officially accomplished what many only dream of: seeing every country on the planet.
Yu’s adventure began as a 23-year-old exchange student from the Philippines, and 56 years later, she achieved her longtime dream.
Luisa Yu’s remarkable journey began when she traveled to the United States as an exchange student. Unable to leave the nation, she embarked on a Greyhound bus tour to discover the many landscapes and cultures that make up the United States. Yu chose to change careers after working in medical technology. She became a travel agent, which allowed her to pursue her enthusiasm for traveling.
Yu has traveled the world for the past 50 years, immersing herself in each country’s rich tapestry of history, culture, and scenery. Her dogged pursuit of this ambitious objective led her to places that some might consider hazardous, but Yu welcomed the challenge, inspired by a strong desire to witness personally the stories and traditions that unfolded in those regions.
“Even though some places were considered dangerous, I said, ‘I believe I can do this.'” “I want to see these places with my own eyes because there is a lot of history and culture that happened there.” Yu shared with GMA.
On November 9, 2023, Luisa Yu arrived in Serbia, marking the end of her amazing mission to visit every country on Earth.
