How to Grow Mint at Home in Water Without Soil

To grow mint in water, what you need to do is to cut a mint stem about 10-15 cm long from the original mint plant.

Remove the lower leaves and place the cuttings in a full glass of water or bottle. Keep the bottle in a cool, bright place that receives indirect light (lamplight).

Change the water every day. The cut stem will grow a few more leaves and last for several days, then you can plant it in a container filled with soil or use it.

Requirements for growing mint indoors

Growing mint indoors is useful, it adds spice to vegetables, salads, yogurt, meat and if you taste freshly picked mint leaves the flavor is wonderful. Also, if you want to make a herb garden at home then mint is the best herb, to start with.

There are a few simple requirements you need to keep in mind about using a medium sized pot (7-12 liters would be good) when growing mint in a pot.

Location of mint plants

Mint can tolerate some outside darkness but it needs a minimum 3 – 4 hours of direct sunlight to grow well. Choose a location where it can get plenty of sunlight and proper air circulation. Near a window or door, if you can keep it on a window or balcony it will be best for mint plant growth!

Fertilizer

Herbs grown indoors or anywhere should not be fertilized too much, otherwise they lose their flavor. Raising mint plants occasionally using water-soluble fertilizer is enough. You can also top layer the pot with compost or fertilizer.
