Giving back to God is a way for us to thank God for all of life’s blessings and to recognize that all we own is ultimately a result of God.
For kids, though, this might be a challenging idea to understand. This small child’s amusing moment with the offering basket was captured on camera. He was going to learn about proper church protocols.
As the offering basket walked down his row, the little boy gave a sly smile and dropped his dollar into the giving basket and quickly took it back. But his observant grandma slides it right out of his grasp, and back into the basket. This is a gentle reminder that once you give to God, it’s best to leave it be.
It also serves as a reminder of how crucial it is to teach kids the value of worshiping and honoring God. The boy’s family was setting an example for him, showing him that giving back to God is an important part of their faith.
Additionally, we are reminded of the precious ties that exist within a church community between the young and the old. The fact that this little boy had a group of people around him, teaching him and guiding him, is a testament to the power of community and fellowship.
