Ricky Martin has always wanted to be a father, but his se..xuality made the process difficult. The singer said of his dream, “Many years I fantasized of being a father, and many, many, many times I went through this grieving process of ‘I am ʜᴏᴍᴏsᴇxᴜᴀʟ, I am a closeted ɢᴀʏ man, and I’m not going to be able to be a daddy.”
Martin became a single father to twin boys through surrogacy. His kids, Matteo and Valentino, were born in 2008 and are now 15 years old. In 2017, Martin married Jwan Yosef. Regarding his marriage, he stated, “My kids ask me about having two daddies and I tell them we are a part of a modern family,” he went on, “This is a beautiful sense of freedom.”
The couple welcomed their two children, daughter Lucia and son Renn. The two children are now five and four, respectively. They were born nine months apart and conceived through surrogacy.
Martin discussed how he had always wanted a large family. In a 2020 interview, he stated, “There’s moments where I want 10 more, and then there are those mornings where everybody’s crying and I’m like, ‘Okay, maybe we’re fine at six [people in the family].’”
Martin and Yosef openly announced their div:orce in July 2023, six years after their marriage began.
“Our greatest desire now is to continue having a healthy family dynamic and a relationship centered on peace and friendship to continue the joint upbringing of our children,” the statement read in one portion.
Martin’s fraternal twin, 15-year-old Mattow, is older. He was born on August 9, 2008, and weighed 6 pounds, 13 ounces. His name translates to “gift from God.”
Now that they are grown, the twins join their father to his great job. Matteo once joined Martin on the set of his music video, and the pleased father shared the precious moment on Instagram. “Look who decided to accompany me to the filming of my new video,” he said in the caption, as Matteo posed on a director’s chair, thumbs up to the camera.
In an interview, he recounted how the kids critiqued his singing abilities. “They tell me, ‘Dad, yesterday was better than today. What’s going on with your singing?’ They are very honest, and I appreciate it,” Martin said in a 2020 interview.”[They say], ‘I like the dance that you did yesterday. Today was a little bit weak, Dad.’ This is what’s happening in this house.”
Valentino, the second twin, is likewise 15 years old and was born minutes after his brother on August 9, 2008, weighing 5 pounds and 6 ounces. The name Valentino means ‘brave one.’ As a 15-year-old, the teenager dreams to one day become a YouTuber.
“Matteo is more into the arts and Valentino is gonna spend his life in front of a screen because he wants to be the best YouTuber in the world,” said.

Now, the teenagers resemble their father and are nearly as tall as him. Martin shares a rare photo of the two sons next to him from a recent holiday.
Martin’s lone daughter, Lucia, was born in 2018 and is now five years old. Martin and Yosef announced her birth on Instagram. The caption continued: “Both her brothers and Jwan and I are completely in love with our baby and grateful to be able to start this 2019 with the best gift we could receive, the gift of life.”
Martin’s son Renn, born through surrogacy while married to Yosef, is the youngest member of his family. On October 29, 2019, a newborn boy came. The couple announced their baby’s arrival on Instagram, with a photo of themselves cuddling the little bundle of joy and the comment, “Our son Renn Martin-Yosef was born.”
