Dad’s Favorite Tea

One evening, Mom had to go out, so Dad was left in charge of me. I was about two and a half years old and had just recovered from an accident.
As a get-well gift, someone had given me a tiny plastic tea set, and I absolutely loved it.
Dad was relaxing in the living room, completely absorbed in the evening news, when I proudly walked over with a tiny cup of “tea.”
It was actually just water—but Dad played along.
“Mmm… delicious!” he said with a big smile.
A few minutes later, I brought him another cup.
Then another.
And another.
Each time, Dad happily drank it, praising me for making “the best tea ever.”
When Mom finally got home, Dad grinned and whispered, “Don’t say anything. Just watch. It’s the cutest thing you’ll ever see.”
Mom stood quietly in the hallway as I proudly marched in with yet another tiny cup of tea for Daddy.
Dad smiled, accepted it, and drank every last drop.
Mom watched the whole scene, then looked at Dad and calmly asked,
“Did it ever occur to you…”
“…that the only place she can reach to get water by herself is the toilet?”
Suddenly, Dad’s smile disappeared…
And for some strange reason, he never asked me to make tea again.
