US President Donald Trump has discovered why he thinks he’ll be qualified for next year’s Nobel Peace Prize after explaining why he didn’t win this year.
Maria Corina Machado, the head of the Venezuelan opposition, received the 2025 Prize. She responded by dedicating the trophy to Trump, who then recounted a chat they had after she won.
“The person who actually got the Nobel Prize called today, called me, and said ‘I’m accepting this in honor of you, because you really deserved it.’ A really nice thing to do.
“I didn’t say, ‘Then give it to me’, though,” he joked.
According to Albert Nobel’s desires, the prize is granted to ‘the person who shall have done the most or the finest effort for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the hosting and promotion of peace conferences’.
Trump has his sights set on the prize, as seen by his numerous public discussions about it.
‘Everyone argues that I should earn the Nobel Peace Prize,’ he recently told the United Nations delegates, but one cannot propose oneself.
Speaking to reporters recently, Trump declared: “This will be my eighth war that I’ve solved.
“And I hear there’s a war now going between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
“I said, it’ll have to wait until I get back.
“You know, I’m doing another one because I’m good at solving wars.
“I’m good at making peace and it’s an honour to do it. I saved millions of lives, millions of lives.”
Pakistan’s government, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and U.S. Representative Claudia Tenney were among the those who nominated Trump this year.
During a conference at the Marine Corps Base Quantico in Virginia, he discussed his track record of ending conflicts and said, “Nobody’s ever done that.” Are you going to win the Nobel Prize? Not at all. They’ll award it to a man who achieved absolutely nothing.”
“If I were named Obama, I would have had the Nobel prize given to me in 10 seconds,” he insisted during the previous year’s presidential contest, according to the Guardian.
