For a home that always smells good
1. Ventilation
Ventilation is very important. You can leave some windows a third open all night because the air is cleaner there and leave them slightly ajar for most of the day.
2. Make sure all linens are clean
All fabrics and clothing, whether in closets or not, need to be cleaned. Don’t store semi-dirty clothes in wardrobes. Instead of that:
– put them off, in which case you can leave them on a chair or coat rack waiting, but not for long
— rinse them on the delicate/light cycle
Even dirty laundry, wherever it is, should not stagnate.
Finally, it is important to change your bedding regularly, for example once a week. All clothes and fabrics in general must have a clean smell. If not, consider rinsing them.
3. Clean
Deep clean your home at least once a week.
4. Eliminate objects with unpleasant odors
∙ Keep your shoes as far apart as possible
Find a solution for removing your shoes or cleaning them inside and out, including scrubbing the soles.
Don’t dirty the floor by walking on it with dirty shoes, but wear indoor slippers, obviously clean and washed regularly.
∙ Eliminates food odors
Don’t leave smelly food, dirty dishes or organic waste lying around.
Always close the kitchen door when cooking. Ventilate the kitchen well before reopening it. If you have an open-plan kitchen, don’t forget to turn on the hood when you cook.
∙ Also remove any other objects with an unpleasant odor
Such as old, deteriorated, dirty or dusty things that you cannot wash or clean.
5. Have items that smell good
Like flowers, a lemon tree…
6. Be clean
Take a regular shower and wash your hair before it becomes visibly greasy, and wear perfume
