According to a royal specialist, Meghan Markle made “few digs” at the Royal Family when promoting her new Netflix series, “With Love, Meghan.”
Meghan also talked about the times she has tried to feel honest when she appeared on The Circuit with Bloomberg’s Emily Chang to promote the series.
Rebecca English, royal editor at the Daily Mail, gave the Palace Confidential podcast an analysis of the promotional interview, saying, “Her answers were well thought out and there were definitely a few digs at the Royal Family.” Meghan mentioned in the interview that she could have to wear pantyhose [tights] for royal gatherings or occasions when she was in the UK.
Rebecca said: “Meghan said that having to wear these ‘pantyhose’ [tights] was inauthentic for her as a person. It was all tied up with the time in her life. She didn’t mention the Royal Family by name, but it’s quite clear what she was referring to – where she wasn’t able to be as vocal as she wanted to be and was not able to use her voice properly.”
The royal expert added: “Understandably, this has sparked quite a lot of debate about whether women in the Royal Family are expected to wear tights. Like anything, I think it was quite a deliberate statement on her behalf. It’s another dig I just don’t think she needs to make.”
The royal specialist also pointed out further contradictions in Meghan’s story. Meghan Markle said that she like wearing monotone since it’s the “easiest way to dress” when discussing her personal style.
Rebecca pointed out: “She made a huge deal about one of the constricting things about the Royal Family being that she wasn’t able to wear the colour that she normally favoured.
When asked how she handles criticism of her Netflix lifestyle show, the duchess responded candidly in a rare sit-down interview with Emily Chang on The Circuit.
“If you know your audience, you know your demographic—well, they love the show,” she stated, indicating that she was aware of the target audience. Furthermore, my partners adore the program, which is why a second season is planned and more fun is on the horizon.”
Chrissy Teigen, Tan France, David Chang, and Jay Shetty were among the new chefs, artists, and friends that the Duchess of Sussex brought to Montecito in Season 2.
In December, Meghan will host a special edition of the show on Netflix that will focus on her preparations for the holidays, including crafting and decorating.
