My Husband Made Me Paranoid About My Body Odor, But the Reason Why He Did It Left Me Fuming

A 35-year-old lady sent us an anxious letter. She discussed her troubles with accepting that her husband had turned out to be cruel. He made continuous comments about her body odor, which had a negative impact on her mental health. But she was furious when she discovered the true cause for his behavior. We absolutely sympathize with her after hearing about his strategy.

The woman has always had a lovely marriage with her husband.

To be honest, our marriage has always been based on strong emotions, passionate affection for one another, mutual respect, and trust. I’ve always viewed my relationship with George as blissful; it was great for me. He’s always been a loving and caring husband.

I’ve always had a difficult relationship with my MIL since I don’t like her demeanor. She has always been quite forceful and entitled, firmly believing that her opinion is the only one that matters in any situation. She enjoys interfering in other people’s private life.

George began making unpleasant remarks about my body odor. There was no obvious reason for it—no changes to my health or lifestyle. Everything had been normal until one day, when he simply began doing it. Every day, at least once, he would tell me how horrible I smelled.

I became so concerned about my body odor that I began showering three times a day.

I started using a special, strong deodorant every hour, and I even set reminders on my phone. I also started wearing perfume and brushing my teeth five times every day, every time I ate or drank something other than water.

I felt as though I was losing my mind. I knew I hadn’t smelled horrible during our relationship, and I didn’t think I smelled bad at the time. My husband, however, clearly disagreed. I’ve always been the sort to surreptitiously inspect my armpits for odor. I even visited a doctor, who informed me that there was nothing medically wrong.

I told George that I would be gone for about three hours. I had planned to see my sister and thought a pleasant walk would be relaxing. But after a while, I began to feel unwell. I felt it was better to return home and rest, so I arrived approximately 30 minutes after leaving. Of course, George didn’t expect me to return so quickly.

Because I was feeling ill, I entered the house carefully, without making any unnecessary noise with my keys or anything else. I had a horrible headache, and every sound exacerbated it. George didn’t hear me come in because he was on a video conference with his mother.

George hesitantly told his mother that he was tired of this’smelly game.’

He seemed concerned, adding that because of his repeated comments about my body odor, we had stopped being intimate, and I would no longer kiss him. His mother, in response, advised him to be patient if he wanted to keep me around. She said that George’s father had done the same thing to her, claiming it was a foolproof way to keep a woman from leaving. According to her, a woman would stay with one man for life because’she’ll feel too low to break up with you, be committed exclusively to you, and always be fresh and clean.

George has no idea that I am already aware of everything. I want a divorce, but I also want revenge before I terminate things with him. I understand that many people do not consider George’s behavior as a significant grounds for divorce, but I can’t image spending the rest of my life with someone who uses such’smelly methods’ on a lady who loves him wholeheartedly.
