Sure signs your mother-in-law is jealous of you
In many joint families, where newlyweds live with the spouse’s parents, conflicts may arise from time to time. You may not get along too spiffingly with your mother-in-law, and one of the reasons for that might be the feeling that she has lost her son to you.
Most mothers are overly attached to their children. These feelings may sometimes be projected on you, making you feel uncomfortable and uncared for in your home.
Thankfully, there are ways to resolve these issues. If your mother-in-law is jealous of you, she may do any of the following:
1. doesn’t respect your boundaries in spite of numerous requests. She never cares to respect your boundaries or your private life.
2. is overly attached and emotionally dependent on her son. She tries to grab as much attention as possible by playing the role of a victim.
3. tries to dominate and control her son by making him dance to her tune. She tries to control your home by taking decisions for you both.
4. competes with you, and this kind of competition is very unhealthy.
5. frequently plays the victim to get your husband’s attention.
6. always complains about you to her son.
7. gets passive-aggressive, insulting your family and criticizing your every move.
8. ignores you at family gatherings and parties.
9. excludes you from family affairs
10. refrains from talking directly to you
11. compares you with other daughters-in-law
12. creates differences between your partner and you
13. demands her son’s attention
14. tries to turn your kids against you
15. over-criticizes you
