An elderly couple had become so forgetful that they finally decided it was time to see a doctor.
After listening to their concerns, the doctor gave them some simple advice:
“You two should start writing things down. It will help you remember.”
That evening, they were relaxing at home when the wife suddenly called out,
“Honey, could you get me a bowl of ice cream?”
“Sure thing,” her husband replied.
She smiled and added,
“You’d better write that down.”
He laughed.
“Don’t worry. I can remember one bowl of ice cream!”
“Okay,” she said. “And put some chocolate syrup on it.”
“Got it!”
“Are you sure you don’t want to write that down?”
“I’ve got it!”
“And don’t forget the whipped cream.”
He rolled his eyes.
“I said I’ll remember!”
About twenty minutes later, he proudly walked back into the living room carrying a plate of bacon and eggs.
His wife stared at the plate for a moment.
Then she sighed and shook her head.
“I knew it! I told you to write it down!”
The husband looked confused.
“What did I forget?”
She pointed at the plate and said,
“Your toast!”
