A breathless, desperate man rushed into the local police station, practically slamming his hands down on the front desk.
“Officer! I need to speak to the man you arrested last night,” he demanded. “The burglar who broke into my house.”
The desk sergeant looked up from his paperwork, sighing heavily. “Look, sir, I understand you’re upset about the break-in, but everything has to go through the proper legal channels. You’ll get your chance to face him in court.”
“No, no, no! You don’t understand!” the man pleaded, waving his hands frantically. “I don’t care about the stolen television or the court date!”
The sergeant raised an eyebrow, completely confused. “Then why on earth are you so desperate to talk to a common criminal?”
The man leaned in close and whispered, “I just need him to tell me how he managed to sneak into my house, walk past the bedroom, and open the back door without waking up my wife. I’ve been trying to figure out how to do that for twenty years!”
