The water heater has a “hidden switch” that not many people know: Open and use it for 10 years, still durable without worrying about wasting electricity

With just a few simple steps, dirt inside the water heater will be completely removed, helping to improve water quality as well as increase the life expectancy of the device.
Water heaters are used a lot in winter to provide warm water to users. However, many people use water heaters, but not many people care about cleaning this tank. If not cleaned regularly, the inside of the water heater will be very dirty.

The reason for hard water is that it contains many minerals such as calcium, iron, etc. These metal ions will react with the metal in the tank when the temperature increases, so after a period of use, the water heater will have a lot of precipitated residue.

Dirt in the tank can cause many problems such as clogging the water outlet, reducing the amount of water in the tank, reducing its heating efficiency, etc. In cases where the water contains many minerals, the metal surface of the internal filament will corrode, over time it will be punctured, cracked, and even the water heater will leak electricity. Therefore, cleaning the water heater regularly is very necessary.

How to clean the sediment valve

Actually, cleaning the water heater is not too difficult or complicated. There is a “hidden switch” on the body of the water heater. You just need to open it and dirty water will flow out into the basin. This “hidden switch” is the sediment discharge valve on the water heater. Just unscrew it, rinse the water heater, and the dirt in the tank will come out this way.

The first thing you need to do

before cleaning the water heater is to drain all the hot water in the tank to avoid burns during the cleaning process. Then turn off the power and turn off the water supply to the tank.

Next, remove the water supply pipe,

water outlet pipe and safety valve one by one. When the water in the tank is completely drained, continue to turn the sediment discharge valve out, it is located right next to the two inlet and outlet water pipes.

Note that you should be gentle

because the descaling valve is often attached to the Magnesium bar (descaling bar), the function of this bar is to protect unglazed points in the water heater, preventing the rust process from taking place to protect the tank core from being punctured.

Use the water supply hose

to install it in the water outlet pipe position, unlock the water supply source with the purpose of letting cold water inside to bubble the tank, then dirty water will come out from the sediment discharge valve.

After rinsing for about 1-2 minutes,

when the dirt inside the tank is gone, remove the water supply pipe from the water inlet and reinstall the water pipes one by one as before.

With the Magnesium bar, before reinserting it into the tank, you should clean it.

If the Magnesium bar is more than 60% corroded, it needs to be replaced immediately. If not replaced, the Magnesium bar will combine with the metals in the tank, causing leakage, corroding the tank shell and affecting the user.

With just a few simple steps as above, the dirt in the water heater will be removed. According to experts, so that dirt does not accumulate too much inside the bottle, it is better to clean the bottle this way about every 6 months.
