Using Microwave In These Ways Mistakes Could Either Ruín Your Microwave Or Make You síck

One of the best microwaves can give you the convenience you need to heat up food or drinks in no time. But while they seem easy enough to use, there may be some microwave mistakes you didn’t know you were making.

1. Not covering your food while heating

Not only does this leave splatters in the microwave, but the food is heated unevenly. Food can be cold in some places and hot in others, which can be dangerous to eat.

2. Use the wrong Lid

If you use a lid, make sure it is labeled, microwave safe and secure. Some plastics can be dangerous to use in the microwave, as they can leak toxic toxins into food at such high temperatures. Some can also melt and warp. So always check the covers before you buy.

3. Heating food in the wrong type of container

Aluminum containers are especially dangerous because, when exposed to microwaves, they reflect heat, so the metal burns quickly and can catch fire.

In addition, polystyrene and some types of plastic can melt or release the plastic and emit harmful chemicals. When in doubt, transfer your food to heat-resistant glass or ceramic containers or any other microwave-safe dish.

4. Not letting hot food ‘rest’ before eating

You may be hungry, but don’t be tempted to eat steaming hot food immediately. As with baking, leave the food out first, to allow the temperature to cool and equalize. After a few minutes, you can safely enjoy your meal without fear of burning your mouth!

5. Putting “explosive” foods in the microwave

It is also recommended that you never heat eggs in the microwave. Don’t even try to cook hard-boiled eggs. Potatoes, peppers, frozen fruit and hot dogs cannot be heated in the microwave either, as they may all explode under such high heat. The heat is trapped inside and causes these items to explode. To avoid damage to the microwave and injury to yourself, avoid heating these foods in a microwave.

6. Cooking food at high temperatures

If you think that cooking or reheating food at high temperatures will cook or reheat it faster, you are wrong. In fact, high temperatures can result in uneven cooking or overcooking. It’s best to use a “medium” heat setting, even if the food takes a little longer to cook or reheat. This way, you at least know that your food will be properly cooked on all sides and not left partially raw.

7. Incorrectly thawing meat

Improper thawing can leave you with partially frozen or partially cooked meat. In general, remove the frozen meat and place it in a microwave safe dish. Set the microwave to defrost, enter the weight, and set to the lowest power setting (or 20-30% power). Then defrost for 8-10 minutes, per 0.5 kg – always checking the meat every minute or so before turning it over.

8. Do not clean the microwave oven regularly

We recommend cleaning once a week if you regularly use the microwave to cook food and not just to heat it up. If you don’t clean it regularly, food and liquid splashes in the microwave oven may rot and produce harmful bacteria which in turn can make your food unhygienic, leave an unusual smell and also affect the longevity of the oven.
