Viewpoint: William and Kate need to discuss their marital problems

The rituals and traditions of the Royal Family are being changed by Prince William and Kate Middleton. Through their efforts to nurture their children, William and Kate have consistently shown that they are establishing a more contemporary monarchy.

The public’s perception of the Prince and Princess of Wales has significantly changed as a result of their openness about a variety of topics, including their personal lives, which has increased their popularity. Though they are unafraid to discuss almost everything, is their family life really as wonderful as it seems?

It could be time for the couple to go a step further and start talking about how difficult and demanding marriages can be, which is probably the case with them as well (just like everyone else’s). After all, preserving the monarchy for future generations may depend on their becoming even more approachable.

Kate Middleton and Prince William are well known for their progressive views on what a contemporary monarchy ought to resemble.

Many years ago, the Prince and Princess of Wales decided to change their ways, starting with their child-rearing.

The Prince of Wales has been greatly influenced by his mother, Princess Diana, who wished to provide him and his brother, Prince Harry, with an upbringing that would differ from what previous royal children had gone through. For example, the children’s early years were not limited to formal attire as they were taught the “royal way” to act.

Instead, Princess Diana recognised the need of exposing her kids to both daily life and the royal lifestyle. She had belief that would have a beneficial impact on her kids’ futures; how would they ever interact with the public if they hadn’t gone to a fast food restaurant or taken the tube?

They did more than just use the tube and eat at McDonald’s, of course, but those two small details reveal a lot. It seems that William was highly inspired by Diana, and he and Kate gave their children what Diana gave them.

Raising children is only one aspect of modernising the monarchy.

Recently, during a trip to South Africa, Prince William supported the value of empathy and underlined the Royal Family’s commitment to philanthropic initiatives.

In addition, he wants to utilise his position to forge partnerships that improve society, which seems like one of the more essential statements about what a contemporary monarchy ought to be like. This highlights how crucial it is that William connects with the general people.

In an effort to set an example for others, the Prince and Princess of Wales have chosen to share details of their personal lives on social media in recent years. Even though the Royal Family used to avoid discussing health issues, Kate chose to come forward and talk candidly about her canc3r diagnosis earlier this year. She also shares photos of her kids.

Another example of William and Kate’s preference for openness over secrecy was the private video in which Kate revealed she was canc3r-free. When the couple aired the film and shared with the public what they had gone through as a family during a difficult period, they “broke with royal tradition,” as per British broadcaster Jonathan Sacerdoti on Fox News. He continued to say that Kate has been “humanised,” which may be the best way to characterise William and Kate’s desire for a new, contemporary Royal Family to be perceived.

However, the humanising process shouldn’t be limited to positive aspects, and this is where William and Kate should do better. The two must also discuss the negative parts of their lives, including how marriage can be challenging at times, in order to engage the public and be viewed as relatable people. “Yes, we argue sometimes,” or “Yes, we disagree in certain aspects of how the children should be raised,” would be a welcome first statement from William and Kate.
