Little kids are both delightful and exhausting. They may be the cutest, sweetest, and most caring tiny individuals on the globe at any one time. The next minute, they may be throwing a tantrum on the floor of a store because they did not obtain what they wanted. As a parent, it’s difficult to know what to expect.
Children’s recitals are similar in that you never know if it will be adorable, amazing, or cringeworthy. Listening to children sing off tune can be difficult to endure, even for parents, but not all recitals are like this. Even when the performance isn’t great, the kids can be a lot of fun to see.
If you’re ready to switch from pumpkin spice lattes to peppermint mochas, and you believe that nothing says Christmas joy like smiling small children, you’re going to love this cute Christmas recital.
Let us set the scenario. The parents are sitting in the crowd, waiting expectantly for the performance. Some of the children most likely practiced at home, so some of the parents may have a vague sense of what to expect, but watching your child rehearse at home is vastly different from watching hundreds of small children perform together.
The children, who are all dressed in matching green outfits to go with the season, walk single file onto the stage and take their positions. They stand there, waiting. The audience is waiting. Then, the curtain opens revealing the children standing on the stage. The audience claps and cheers in delight, but they don’t even know what’s to come.
Some of the kids wave to people they recognize in the audience. Some of them clap with the audience. One tiny girl in the center begins bouncing her hips.
Then the music starts. It’s “Rocking Around the Christmas Tree,” and the kids cease waving and clapping. They quickly begin the show they had practiced, and the audience cheers even more. It’s something you must see for yourself.
