More and more people are digging deeper than just their immediate ancestors—many are curious to know if they might be distantly related to royalty.
To make this search a little easier, Family History Daily has compiled a list of 100 surnames that might indicate a royal connection in your lineage.
The ancestry site has cited Charles H. Browning’s 1891 book titled Americans of Royal Descent, which includes hundreds of surnames and documents the royal family trees of these individuals in detail.
Out of those hundreds, Family History Daily has compiled a list of just 100 names; however, it’s important to note that Browning’s text isn’t the only (or most updated) source of information on the aristocratic lineages of early Americans.
But, before we jot down the extensive list, it’s important to note that while it may be exciting to see your surname below, you’ll need to do a whole lot more additional research to make any concrete conclusions as all information really should be be verified and properly sourced before it can be considered a legitimate addition to your family tree.
